My fave bits of when Richie McCaw came to our school was the Helicopter ride. When we walked up to the helicopter and the pilot said biggest in the front I felt giddy. I was all of a sudden sitting in the front of a Helicopter that was actually going to fly! When the pilot said “put on your ear muffs so your ears don’t hurt while we are flying” I was really excited. The kids in the back started giggling and I could hear them right in my ear it was kinda scary! We were soon talking to each other and Tiana was squealing and shrieking and my ears hurt but it was absolutely amazing as we went soaring over Pukeokahu hill and down near the Rangitiki river then we whirled around and swirled till we were over the school. Then we swished round one more time and slowly sank to the ground and suddenly my heart was pounding racing with adrenalin and I was Laughing as the kids in the back asked for another ride.

I did a love heart and Half of it looks 2D and the other pops out of the page and looks 3D

steps to make a cubism art:

1. get an A3 piece of paper and draw straight lines almost all strange shapes.

2. then paint in the shapes and shade them in and colour them in.

3. once you have finished painting you do the same all over again.

4. then get an A2 black piece of paper and staple the pictures tothe wall and it looks really cool

Habitat:

The meerkat is found exclusively on the semiarid plains of southern Africa. It avoids woodland and dense vegetation, preferring to live among the scrub. At night, the meerkat retires to a network of burrows witch it digs with its powerful forelegs. The burrows may be as deep as 10 feet. Sometimes the burrows are shared with other animals such as the ground squirrel and yellow mongoose. In rocky ground, the meerkat will make its den in the crevices between the rocks.

food:

Meerkats are insectivores. They feed on insects, also on other invertebrates, mice, eggs, small birds, lizards and snakes.

Meerkats are often kept about homes in South Africa to kill rats and mice.

Click the link to see the progress of our Mould project

Hypothesis:
Mould grows slower in colder temperatures than it does in warmer temperatures

Answer:

Mould grows better in dark damp places than in sunlit dry places because the piece of bread on the plate that Jonny and Peita had, did not grow any mould whereas compared to tristins and my piece of bread that was in room temperature which was in the dark and is still moist.

Mould likes human temperatures because Tristins and my hot water cupboard did not have much mould on it and the piece in the fridge did not have any.

Mould likes damp places rateher than dry places beacause the piece out in the open was always in the sun which drew the moisture out and dryed it compared to the one with added moisture which grew quicker than everyone elses .

THIS WAS ONLY TESTED ON WHITE BREAD WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE SAME SORT OF MOULD WILL GROW ON DIFFERENT SORTS OF FOOD

Tristin and I are in one group so is Peita and Jonny that leaves Lochy and Grace together. We each got a category Warmth , Air and dampness Tristin and I got Warmth. so far our project is going well we have two pieces of bread that have mould on them. Oops sorry I should have told you that we get three pieces of bread each group and we have to create a sience investigation. here is an example of mould

We have been doing eyes at school and we have discovered that every ones eyes are just about the same. they have a pupil (which is actually a hole that opens wider when it is dark and shrinks when you go into bright light) an Iris (which is the coloured bit of your eye ) and a cornea (which is the gloppy clear stuff covering your eye). next we venture into the eye and what we see is a lens ( which is a hard thing that helps you to see things if your lens is too skinny or to fat you may have seeing proplems ) then we see the retina ( which is a clear liquid inside your eye which captures the images you see and processes them to the brain lickety split in less than a millisecond !) at the back we have a little dent which is called the fovea ( which is where the images bounce off into the nerve which takes them to the brain.)

Part One:

step 1. Come up with a hypothesis

( An hypothesis is a theory which is always a statement never a question it has to be able to be answered with either a yes or a no)

step 2. create a method.

( a method is something like a recipe it helps you to do the same thing every time.) you can write or draw the method

step 3. Create a list of what equipment

you need.

step 4. set up your site and always make sure

that you have a notepad and pencil to write down observations.

step 5. once you are finished your science investigation use your notes to observe

how well it worked ( observation is just saying how you saw it happen)

step 6. Findings ( findings is what you think and whether your hypothesis is true or not.)

Part two:

we need our science investigation to be fair for example: if you were doing a investigation on how long it takes a daffodil to change colour

and you put all food colouring in one jar and no water and another with 99 percent water and 1 percent food colouring it would not be fair would it? so we need to have the tests exactly the same every time.

Part three:

here are a few ideas for an science investigation…

1. fish can change colour depending on what food colouring you put in their water.

2. at toilet paper roll can last outside 30 days without biodegrading.

3. a cow can live on two litres of water a day.

4. tadpoles only take 40 days to grow into a frog.

5. A train can squash a coin flat.

We have done Picasso art. I have learnt that Picasso wanted to have different art to everybody else. He wanted to stand out so he created lots of awesome paintings. My picture is like the woman on the moon. The face is like a moon yet with two eyes two noses two mouths yet no ears. It has a piggy tail hair and a red shirt. We painted Indian ink over top then we wiped it off and it created a very cool effect. Cubism is a type of painting when you just change the shape of everything the face ears teeth eyes you name it! it is really interesting.
